Explore our nation’s rich heritage by day, then dance your way into 2027 at one of the country’s most beloved ballroom dance events.
Ballroom dancers from across the nation return year after year for this famous multi-day New Year’s Gala in Southeastern Virginia. Now celebrating its 35th year, it has become one of the nation’s premier social ballroom dance events, featuring inspiring workshops with top-notch instructors during the day and plenty of opportunities to dance the night away. The festivities culminate with a festive New Year’s Eve event complete with a delicious buffet dinner, dazzling showcases, exciting world champion performances, and the all-important midnight Champagne toast! (for those over 21 years of age)
Dancers of all levels are welcome, and best of all, no partner is needed! The Gala is known for its warm, friendly atmosphere where you’ll meet fellow dancers from around the country, make new friends, and enjoy countless memorable moments on the dance floor!
Open to guests ages 14 and up. Guests under the age of 18 must travel with an accompanying adult. The Gala takes place at the beautiful Newport News Marriott at City Center, an upscale full-service hotel featuring spacious guest rooms, an indoor pool, fitness center, and on-site restaurant. Comfortable beds and premium bedding will ensure you’re well rested and ready for both touring and dancing.

- 9:00am: Enjoy dance workshops organized by USA Dance Tidewater, VA chapter – casual attire
- 6:30pm-1:00am: New Year’s Eve Gala with buffet dinner, dance, showcases, world champion performances, champagne toast. Cash bar is available on site for additional beverages (alcoholic beverages available for 21 years of age and up) formal – semi formal attire

While these locations are convenient pick-up points, long-term parking may not be allowed. We recommend arranging for someone to drop you off and pick you up at the end of the tour. If parking is necessary, please contact the appropriate parking authority in advance regarding permits and parking regulations.
Please arrive 15 minutes before the estimated departure time at your selected pick-up point. All timings are approximate.
Is there parking at the pick-up locations?
Some of the pick-up locations we use require a parking fee for your vehicle. Guests are responsible for their own parking fees.

What is your cancellation policy?
If you have purchased “cancel for any reason” insurance, you may cancel up to 24 hours prior to time of estimated departure for any reason. You MUST notify A-1 Tours in writing or by phone and receive a cancellation confirmation back
