What makes it even more fascinating? The caverns were discovered completely by accident in 1878—imagine stumbling upon something so incredible! Later, in 1974, the National Park Service recognized its significance by naming it a Registered Natural Landmark, honoring its importance to America’s natural heritage.
While you’re there, the experience doesn’t stop underground. You’ll also have time to explore the Car & Carriage Caravan Museum, a must-see for vehicle lovers. With a collection on display featuring over 140 items related to transportation. We’ll spend the day in Virgina and in the afternoon we head for DC. The following day is spent at leisure where you can explore the National Mall on your own. Visit the many monuments and memorials and visiting any of the Smithsonian Institution.
