George Washington’s Mount Vernon & A Day on the National Mall
NJ, PA & DE Departures to Washington D.C.
Tuesday, September 22-23, 2026
$529/pp (Single) & $429/pp (Double)
We arrive early afternoon, starting off with lunch at the food court, followed by a privately guided tour. During the tour, we dive deep into the history of the state and the life of George Washington. You may see the Mansion itself, the Tombs – George Washington died at Mount Vernon in 1799.
His wish was to be buried in the estate. A new brick tomb was built after his death, and in 1831, his remains were moved into the newer tomb. The Gardens – the estate has four different gardens. Each garden served its own purpose. You will get some free time to stroll through all of Washington’s four gardens as well as exploring the Visitor Center & Museum with various exhibitions and films.
From here, we head to Historic Alexandria for a late afternoon at leisure.
The following day, enjoy breakfast at the hotel before heading out to explore the National Mall on your own. (The coach will drop you off at the Mall in the morning and pick you up in the afternoon)
The National Mall is home to many of Washington, DC’s most iconic attractions, offering countless opportunities to explore at your own pace. You may choose to visit any of the Smithsonian Institutions, and A‑1 Tours will be happy to provide personalized recommendations based on your interests.
