The Finger Lakes region of upstate New York is a scenic and inviting destination defined by its eleven long, narrow lakes, formed by ancient glaciers, which create a landscape of rolling hills, fertile farmland, and peaceful waterfronts.

Centered around lakes such as Seneca, Cayuga, and Keuka, the region is dotted with charming towns like Ithaca, Geneva, and Skaneateles, each offering its own mix of small-town charm, culture, and access to nature. The area’s natural beauty is one of its greatest appeals, with forested gorges, dramatic cliffs, and sweeping lake views that shift from lush greenery in summer to brilliant shades of red and gold in the fall. The region is especially well known for its waterfalls, particularly around Ithaca, where places like Taughannock Falls—one of the tallest waterfalls east of the Rockies—and Robert H. Treman and Buttermilk Falls State Parks showcase cascading water, striking rock formations, and scenic hiking trails. In addition to its landscapes, the Finger Lakes is one of the top wine regions in the United States, with a climate moderated by the deep lakes that allows for the production of exceptional cool-climate wines, especially Riesling; wine trails along Seneca, Cayuga, and Keuka Lakes. The Finger Lakes blends natural beauty, excellent wine, and a vibrant local food scene into a relaxing yet engaging destination ideal for both exploration and unwinding.
